Fake Hexies

I love, love, love hexagon quilts.  But let's be honest.  I'm too lazy for them.  I did quilt this beautiful quilt top that I got for Christmas from my mom.  Recently I spent some time drooling over some fake-ish hexagon quilts.  Instead of English paper piecing (translation: loads of tedious hand sewing) they rely on appliqué.

This is a gorgeous quilt by Modern Hand Craft.

Still a lot of fussiness, but I thought I could handle a small project. Also I needed somewhere extra special to set these thrifted glasses that I convinced Eddy we needed to buy all of zero seconds after we moved to Portland.

Just look how lonely they look up there.

So I made a little hexagon.

Then a few more.

Okay, then a lot more.

I quilted it up.

Bound it.

And put it in its place.

I'd say it was worth a little hexie toil.
