Garage Sales Are Very Adult

I never felt more like an adult than when we decided to have a garage sale.  I mean, we weren't just grad students anymore, posting our stuff ad hoc on Craigslist.  We actually owned a volume of stuff large enough that the percentage of it that we wanted to liquidate necessitated a sale.  Whoa.

We did still sell like a million things on Craigslist, though.  Like the kids do.

Sea Legs

We did a fun zodiac tour to the Na Pali coast in Hawaii this year. That is, everyone thought it was really fun except for me. I was too busy expelling my lunch over the side of the boat. Despite the look on Evan's face in this picture, he totally is having an awesome time.

Despite the barf factor, it was truly beautiful.

Don't worry. After I said goodbye to those fish tacos I had for lunch it was smooth sailing from there.

Under the Sea

I challenge you to read that post title without singing Little Mermaid songs to yourself.  It can't be done.  This is the first of a series of posts about our Cobb-cation to Hawaii this year! We're going to jump right in (to the ocean, that is) and show you all of the sea creatures we saw.

First off, this sea creature:

Also, honu!

And eels.

If you find the fish in this picture you get a prize (and also nightmares for the rest of your life.)

We also saw a lot of monk seals, even this tiny baby!

But the best part of it is that everybody looks super attractive in snorkel gear.

Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?

You're welcome.

It's Hot in Texas

So recently we had a reverse housewarming party.  One last big bash before we sold dream house sunshine fuzzy bunny.  We were all ready to go:

when, of course, the A/C went out. Just. as. guests. started. to. arrive. As a friend of ours pointed out the way you find out who your real friends are is to host a party in Texas in June with no A/C and see who toughs it out.

It was actually a great (sweaty) time, but we were not able to fix the A/C as quickly as we hoped. This resulted in some impromptu Road Trip 2013 practice. In other words, we camped out at a hotel with all three animals.

We are happy to report that everyone did A-OK. Ada even thought she was king of the bed.

That is, until Norman learned that he was allowed on the bed.

Re-Prom!

As usual, a lack of blog posts from TSFB means we have been crazy busy and it hasn't all been hard work (you know, getting the house ready to sell and provisioning for Road Trip 2013...)

Recently we found time to relive the past in the form of a prom party.  For adults.  Where we pretend it's prom for a night.  We even did the traditional fireplace photo op (thanks to our awesome neighbors and their very prom-y fireplace).

My prom date picked me up left from the same house as me in our sweet Subaru Outback, Dr. Scott.

And then we basically danced the night away (for instance, to these weird drummer guys in hard hats).

As my dad would say, SRS 80 Rules!
