LEGOLAND!

When we visited DP^2 for Thanksgiving we spent a day in LEGOLAND. Literally the first thing we did when we got there was find a smooshed penny machine for Dana.

She hearts smooshed pennies. We saw lots of sweet Star Wars stuff.

We also stuck our heads through lots of things.

We also saw some strange stuff.

Holiday DP^2

This year we spent Thanksgiving with our favorite California friends, Dave and Dana.  They were kind enough to let us crash and we had lots of fun cooking noms.

Dave and Little Dave love turkey.

Mostly I did this.

But I also did some of this.

We also played games while we were there.

I'm the first citizeness of Arkham. In fact, we did so much game playing that there was a casualty.

Eddy now owes DP^2 one dining room chair.

Let the Xmas Begin

I told myself we would have 100% of our Xmas shopping finished by Thanksgiving this year.  If I had to venture an estimate, I would say we are finished with about 0% to date.  Nevertheless, we did find time to decorate our house for Xmas.  Now, I am generally opposed to all holiday decorations.  Eddy calls me a scrooge.  I prefer to think of myself as clutter averse.  However, this year, I consented to two things.  A brand new Xmas tree that the Cobbs gave us for our birthdays.

and two paper stars we picked up in Chinatown in SF.

We were pretty excited about Thanksgiving break this year.

Right after work on Wednesday, we headed out to our favorite Tex Mex joint in the hood.

When we got home, we cracked a bottle of champagne to kick off the weekend.

For Thanksgiving proper we enjoyed a wonderful meal with Eddy's post-doc advisor, Vivek and his friends and family. Then we headed over to Valerie and Kim's place for a champagne after party. The rest of the weekend, we pretty much lazed around the house.

It was a much relaxing break.

Thanks!

In the spirit of overeating on Thanksgiving, we began the day with breakfast at our favorite local diner.

The rest of our day was spent relaxing at home where we prepared enough food to feed a family of six.

Thxgiving--We found some stuff under my bed...

We had an awesome time at home with the parents for Thanksgiving. We bid a fond farewell to our favorite Ozark institution, Riverside Inn:

This is a book I wrote in 6th grade. The full version of the book is now available on Flickr.

One of the strangest discoveries was this image on one of the last pages of the book. The resemblance between Eddie and Eddy is shocking.

Finally, there's this classic. This is a later drawing of Sgt. Drunkie, so it doesn't quite capture just how strange it was that my little brother drew pictures of a drunken military man, but you get the gist.
