It's Still Pumpkin Season

Everyone knows pumpkin season lasts October 1 - November 30.  Before pumpkin season officially ends, I thought I'd just share a few pics from our annual pilgrimage to our favorite local pumpkin patch.

The first thing we always do is tackle the corn maize.

We totally killed that corn maize.

We're so smart.

Then it was down to business with pumpkins.

IMG_20181009_133232756

Eddy picked out this giant among gourds. We dubbed it Sasquash.

IMG_20181009_140754634

We bought so many pumpkins, guys.

Then we did just one more maze. But not a maize.

Eddy cheated.

Mud Pumpkins

I realize it's been awhile since fall now, but I really have to tell you about this pumpkin patch that we went to.

IMG_20161022_112658956_HDR

It had this corn maze that has to be the. most. elaborate corn maze ever to exist.

IMG_20161022_114158646_HDR

I mean, look at it! It's the shape of Charlie Brown and Snoopy! Also, they consider me tall at this particular pumpkin patch.

IMG_20161022_114503938_HDR

Or it was for kids or whatever.

Okay. So, this corn maze was in Portland. It rains here. So there was mud. But I mean, really. It was a crazy mess.

IMG_20161022_121353710

But they give you adorable clues and even after exploring both routes, I have to say:

IMG_20161022_130709738_HDR

WE DID IT! Really, it was so muddy that it did feel like quite a feat.

Like all good tourist traps, they had things for us to stick our heads through.

Also, I climbed this hay bale stack.

Just look how accomplished I felt.  I say again: WE DID IT!

Care Bear Stare!

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays and this year we did what has become our CA Halloween tradition.  We dressed in costumes and hung out at our neighborhood's block party before heading home to greet trick-or-treaters while enjoying a Halloween themed meal.

This year we decided to be Grumpy Bear and Cheer Bear from The Care Bears.

I decided to make our costumes using some fabric and yarn I had around the house.

I even made fluffy little tails for us (which Norman enjoyed immensely.)

Here we are as Care Bears!

And here are just a few shots of this year's eyeball themed dinner. For the record, we had Dark and Stormy Death Punch, Spooky Stuffed Mushroom Eyeballs,

Halloween Spaghetti (though I used a different recipe for the Bolognese), and Creamy Pumpkin Caramel Panna Cotta (to which I added Marshmallow Fluff + chocolate chip eyeball decorations.)

Hope everyone had an amazing Halloween!

Pumpkins for New Years

Yeah, yeah, it's New Years time now, but we're still catching up on blogging. We figure everyone is still eating pumpkin pie, so what better time to remember the Pumpkin Festival at Half Moon Bay? The highlight was the parade.

Which included this dude.

10.28.2013 305

And this tiny tractor pulling a larger tractor.

10.28.2013 306

Pulling some pretty large pumpkins.

10.28.2013 308

This is the largest pumpkin sculpture.

10.28.2013 314

And this was the largest pumpkin this year.

10.28.2013 326

There was even some sweet pumpkin carving.

Delicious pumpkin carving.  Nom.

All Hallows Eve

Remember Halloween? We had a really good one this year! First we went to my friend Rachel's house for her Halloween Birthday shindig.

P1060462

We played this awesome game called Shadows Over Camelot.

P1060461

Let's just say it is now a thing in our household to say whether or not a real life event should be considered a "despair card." Afterwards, we bundled up and headed to Discovery Green for their Halloween showing of the Addams Family and the Nightmare Before Xmas.

P1060466

It was cold that night.  Please do not mock me!  On Halloween proper, we spotted this amazing decoration in our neighborhood.

P1060475

Sadly, it was only up one day. We also had our very first ever Trick-or-Treaters, thanks to our new house! Days after the Halloween excitement fizzled out, we saw this crazy dude in the parking lot of our grocery store.

P1060468

Just goes to show that weirdos in costumes are welcome all year round.

RIP Cedric GOURDon

Today, we bid farewell to a beloved member of our family: Cedric Gourdon. Cedric had been through us through many weeks. (Well, maybe like two...) Here's a portrait of the recently departed.

P1020978

Here he is at the exact moment of his untimely demise:

Awe, poor Cedric Gourdon!

Mmm... Delicious Cedric Gourdon seeds and pies and muffins and cookies! I mean, awe, poor guy...

Wishing you all a Happy Halloween!

Two Black Cats

In addition to the fun run, we also revived our escaped convict costumes. Here is a picture of us when we first made them. We also whipped up a batch of vampire cupcakes.

Then we headed over to Dave and Dana's for a delicious dinner and some playtime with their two black cats.

Green Sparkle Hair is the New Little Black Dress

We did a fun run/walk this Halloween with our friends Dave and Dana. Here we are all decked out after the race. But don't worry, we made sure to replenish all of those calories we burned with a trip to 59 Diner afterwards. Happy Halloween!

p.s. Eddy is a carrot, not a pumpkin.
