Chopping Volunteers!

One of our favorite places to visit in San Jose is the Municipal Rose Garden.  It's really close to our house, is free, and was just named America's Best Rose Garden!  Recently, we went to one of their volunteer days where they actually set us loose in the garden with clippers and we got to chop things.

I basically went around the rose garden yelling, "Chop! Chop! Chop!"

Homeostasis--Bathrooms, The Final Frontier

Bathrooms:  The final frontier.  These are the voyages of Team Sunshine Fuzzy Bunny.  Its five million year mission: to re-tile everything that exists, to fix terrible plumbing, to boldly demolish what no man has demolished before.

Those of you who have visited us in our new place know that I skipped over the hallway bathroom (tricky!)  That's because, of all the rooms, the bathrooms are the most untouched.  One doesn't even have a working shower, and the other one is just, well.  80's weird.  Anyway, here are the real estate photos.

I know, I know! They're bad. Just rest assured that they look much nicer in the photos than they do in real life.

This concludes our homeostasis tour. Probably by the time you read this post, we will have left homeostasis and returned to homeochaos. Next on our list of projects is the exterior of the house, the library, and the bathrooms!

Two Balls

Norman loves to run.  He also loves balls.  He also won't fetch.  He just won't.  Even though we know he would love it, he just adores tennis balls so much that after he gets them he won't give them back and the game devolves into us chasing him around the yard trying to get the ball back so we can throw it (which is what he wanted to begin with.)  To make it more of a running game for him and less of a running game for us, I invented "Two Balls."  It's a game with two tennis balls and a bucket and it lets Norman run as fast as he wants and us be as lazy as we want.  Enjoy!

Homeostasis--Flashback Episode

Once you leave the hallway, you enter the library.  I wish I could say we use this room ALL THE TIME AND IT'S AMAZING!  The fact of the matter is that it is low on the priority list of projects right now and it's currently just an empty room where the dog sleeps.

It does have these sweet bookshelves that I made and this nice bunny mural.

We've got big plans for this room, so stay tuned.

The other rooms that remain are the laundry room (the first room we actually worked on in the house!) If you follow the blog, this room is not news to you! Before:

And, of course, the master bedroom (also previously seen on the blog!) Before:

After!

This post is like the blog version of those sneaky TV show flashback episodes where they just show you stuff you already saw. I wanted to show these rooms for the sake of completeness, but I could have at least included an intro pretending that it's new content or a fancy fade out...  Geez.

High School Quilt

I recently had an amazing opportunity to make a quilt for my high school bestie, Laura!

I can't describe what an amazing adventure it was, but I can show you pictures of it!

One of my favorite things about this quilt is the custom label I made based some ideas she liked.

Don't worry! That's totally a smudge on the camera lens and not on the label.
