Japanniversary! Ninjin for the Usachan

Well, this will be the last of the Japanniversary posts and I thought we'd go out in style.  Team Sunshine Fuzzy Bunny style.  That is to say, we went to bunny island while we were in Japan!

This post is mostly going to be about TSFB plus actual Bs, so I am just going to shut up and let this happen.

Okay, I'll interrupt here and just say the smaller Japanese islands are really spectacular and peaceful.

IMG_20151116_143646

Aaaaaaannnnnd back to the more bunnies.

Japanniversary! Kyoto

Our last Japanniversary stop was Kyoto and even though we've been to Kyoto before, we saw some amazing new things this time around.

The most important thing was probably that we got more ice cream novelties.

IMG_20151119_144011

Seriously though, we saw just tons of shrines and temples (it's kind of the thing to do in Kyoto.)

IMG_20151121_112932

Mostly we were reverent and polite foreigners, but I've got to just 'fess up and say that I totally did this in front of some sake barrels at the Heian Shrine.

IMG_20151119_140639

We also took a little day trip out to Arashiyama to visit a colony of macaques.

IMG_20151120_131428

We got to hand feed them.

Oh, and did I mention it was atop a giant mountain that we had to hike? Eddy was pretty happy about the view.

IMG_20151120_124713

I, on the other hand, feel strongly that hills are terrible.

IMG_20151120_130346

But Eddy is right. Feeding the monkeys was kind of worth it.

Stay tuned for just one more blog post about Japan!

Japanniversary! Hiroshima

We've actually traveled to Japan before.  One place we hand't been before was Hiroshima and we made it a priority on this last trip.  The city is really beautiful.

IMG_20151115_142925

This is the view from our hotel, by the way! The first order of business was the visit the Peace Memorial. The grounds were so beautiful and each of the memorial structures was moving.

IMG_20151115_154453

IMG_20151115_155325

There were all sorts of beautiful paper crane works of art throughout the park.

IMG_20151115_155011

Trees throughout the city were also marked with these signs indicating they had survived the A-bomb.

IMG_20151115_164902

It really was such a special place to visit.

One of our favorite things about Hiroshima was a local dish called okonomiyaki.

IMG_20151115_193844

We probably ate it three times while we were there. We also visited the Hiroshima Castle.

IMG_20151117_115436

They had two very important things at the castle. 1. Models. Eddy loves models. Like, so much.

IMG_20151117_111241

2. Samurai outfits.

The other thing we really enjoyed in Hiroshima was the Christmas light display on the main path to the Peace Memorial.

IMG_20151117_192706

It was a Christmas light wonderland out there. Finally, we visited the very beautiful Miyajima. The island is overrun with semi-domesticated deer and the locals are working hard to help the deer become wild again. There are signs everywhere asking tourists to refrain from petting or feeding the deer.

IMG_20151118_121011

The deer have other ideas, though.

IMG_20151118_121957

This one thought Eddy's pockets smelled pretty neat.

IMG_20151118_122003

But really we were there to see the beautiful Itsukushima shrine built out on the water.

IMG_20151118_124041

IMG_20151118_124443

Also, we were there to put our heads through stuff.

IMG_20151118_142810

Putting our heads through stuff is pretty much why we go anywhere.

Coming up: Kyoto!
