You're Going to Get Very Sick of our Faces

We went to the Netherlands and it was amazing.  But I must admit that it was long, long ago now, so I'm just going to show a few (thousand) highlights.  Mostly just our cute faces enjoying Dutch things.

First, the best part of our trip was the museums. We saw so many amazing collections and objects.

And we also goofed around some.

Seriously, though, the Rijksmuseum had a room full of model ships and Eddy just.

We also made a special pilgrimage to the Van Gogh Museum to see this painting that grade school Eddy copied in pencil as a child.

It is displayed proudly in our home always.

Okay. So other than museums. Windmills. Obviously.

We also went to the beach! It was lovely.

But the zaniest and most amazing thing I did was tour a stroopwafel factory in Gouda. Ask me about it sometime. The story is long and amazing and ends with stroopwafels.

Eddy and I also took some very compelling boat rides (because canals, you see.)

There were some beautiful bridges with charmingly low clearance.  Seriously, the captain asked us to duck many times.

We took pictures on the various boats.

But mostly there was just a whole lotta this kind of thing.

Paris By Myself

The reason we visited Paris was that Eddy was attending a conference.  That means I was lucky enough to get loads of time in Paris by myself.  It was basically heaven.

In summary, I drank so much chocolat chaud à l'ancienne.

I also just sort of wandered around and saw whatever I felt like seeing.

All day.

Can I just say, I love the Louvre, but the best thing there? Clearly the hot chocolate.

I also checked out the Paris Aquarium.

It's right by the Eiffel Tower.

What? The Ocean? Oui, l'Ocean!

I also did a fair amount of this type of thing.  (MACARONS!)

Also so many museums and libraries. The Musée de Cluny had this cute signage around all of their restoration construction.

Also I went to the BnF and saw some incredible exhibits.

I visited Sainte Chapelle because it's just my favorite little place.

And I went to the antique shops!

There was some weird stuff there.

Some amazing weird stuff. I had the opportunity to purchase an original oil painting of a sad clown flipping off the viewer and I didn't buy it. I'll have to live with myself now.  Knowing.  That I didn't buy that painting.  Le sigh.

Le Mickey Mouse

One of our things is definitely going to Disney parks.

AND YOU GUYS WE TOTALLY WENT TO DISNEYLAND IN PARIS.

We had way a lot of fun. Here we are at the Phantom Manor!

Here we are doing ridiculous things.

Our favorite thing was definitely the Alice in Wonderland maze.

It might have just been the jet lag, though.

Regardless, it was one of our favorite Disney days and that's saying something!

Paris Maps

We went to Paris!  That means I got to spend days and days staring at this handsome dude while he stared at maps.

Eddy loves maps. The first jet-lagged thing we did was visit Notre Dame.

There were lots of culturally important works of art and explanatory objects inside.

To be honest, though, probably the most popular attraction there was this spinny toy outside.

Well, most popular with Eddy, at least.

We saw all the good Paris stuff together: Art Nouveau metro stops,

the Arc de Triomphe,

the Eiffel Tower, duh.

Probably our most fun day, though, was at the Centre Pompidou.
