Li'l Quilts, Big Friendships

We had the opportunity this winter to make little quilts for two very good friends.

First, our friend Jeanne severed a nerve in her hand.  She has an amazing blog about her road to recovery.  We wanted to do a little something for her just to let her know that we love and support her, so obviously we collaborated on a quilt.

This was my vision.  Look how great it looks.  I promise it will look better when it's finished.

Eddy started us off with the paper piecing and applique.

Then I took over and did some fancay free motion quilting.

Then Eddy took, took over and added these milagros for luck.

Then I took, took, took over and added the binding and backing and two little sleeves for hanging.

We sent it along to Jeanne with some local jams and about 3 million well-wishes.

The second good friend who got a quilt this winter is my dear friend, Laura.

I started with some fabrics from my stash.

And I used a pattern that reminded me of my favorite painting that she painted when we were in high school.

The icing on the cake is that Eddy and I actually got to hang out with Laura in DC in December! Here we are with a literal Jolly Green Giant made of plant matter.

Here's the most adorable picture ever of my two favorite goofballs in front of a model of the Capitol made entirely out of plant matter.

No plants were harmed in the making of this blog post.
