Eddy got the shaft this year as far as birthdays go. During his birthday, the house was being painted. We went to his favorite Portland restaurant, but we just didn't get to do too many of the special things we normally do. Namely, make cakes.
So one weekend we headed out to the beach.
We got all the way out there and I waited until Eddy was good and distracted and I snuck into the kitchen and iced this German chocolate cake I secretly made the day before and lit all the candles. He was surprised!
Probably he was surprised because it wasn't anywhere near his birthday at all. I'm so sneaky. Also I made him this birthday quilt because I realized in all the years we've been together I've never made a single quilt just for Eddy. Isn't that sad?! I remedied it with crocodiles.
Just look at those cute crocodiles! On a side note, do you know how hard it is to lie to your husband for a solid week about what you did while he was at work?! I told him I was sick, I faked that I was working on "computer stuff," I artfully changed the subject. That was actually the hardest part of making
this crocodile quilt.
We also had our usual beach fun (otherwise known as cheese tourism).
Also we did some super Eddy-friendly things. Like visiting lighthouses.
Eddy loves lighthouses. Look how wee this one was.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous!
And we drove out to a new beach!
But as always, it was Norman who had the most fun at the beach. He got Eddy to throw things for him.
He refused to let Eddy throw things for him.
He basically just ran around all weekend like a majestic dork.
It basically just resulted in a whole lot of this type of thing.
Happy surprise second birthday to my Eddy.
