Trees for Xmas

This year's Xmas mini quilts are some festive trees!

They started with some cute Xmas-y fabrics

and some pretty pink scraps from my stash.

I made just sooooooo much holiday binding.

Eddy Loves Lighthouses

Eddy had a birthday trip this year too! We got up bright and early in the morning and headed out to the Original Pancake House for our favorite buckwheat pancacke breakfast.

Then we hit the road to the Oregon Coast Aquarium!

We started the day watching tons of feedings.

Then we wandered the rest of the aquarium at our own pace.

There was even a pretty outdoor area where we watched a seagull hunt a crab only to lose it during a seagull fight.

I wore my penguin hat despite the fact that this aquarium does not house any penguins. After a long day staring at the fishes, we headed to our hotel where they were kind enough to give us a room on the top floor with a very choice view from our balcony.

We took a little walk down to the beach.

The next day we headed down to the piers to see the sea lion colony.

We also saw not one, but two lighthouses.

Eddy loves lighthouses.

Very, very happy birthday to my very, very favorite Eddy Westbrook!

Nicci's 111th Birthday

We took a special trip this year for my birthday.  We packed up the doggos and spent the weekend in a hobbit house!  The approach to the house from the parking spot at the bottom of the hill is pretty special.

The first thing Norman did when we arrived was get his head slightly stuck in the front gate.

(No dogs or gates were harmed in the making of this blog post.)

There was gorgeous landscaping in the sweet little yard.

There were so many little nooks for reading and relaxing.

There was a stunning view right outside our front door.

Speaking of the front door...

The doggos were pleased about the earth roof.

In fact, they had more fun on this trip than any two dogs deserve to have.

That was my favorite part of the whole trip, delighting in so much dog freedom.

Round 'Em Up

We make a point to enjoy the Pendleton Round-Up each year.

This year we got some pretty boss seats.

We were right up front for the action.

Like when this dude lit a fire by our seats for the trick riders to jump.

Seriously. We had super great seats.

On the way home we stopped at Cousins' (which we've decided is now part of our rodeo tradition.) Not only did they have big beers,

the decor was also in keeping with the rodeo theme.

Can't wait to Let 'er Buck next year at the Pendleton Round-Up!
