After five years of Houston living, we finally made it out to an Art Car Parade. Now, we had seen a lot of these guys around our hood in our favorite Lindale Park July 4th Parade. We are glad to report that the Art Car Parade had lots more custom automobile goodness to offer. Here are some of our favorites:
(Does anyone else think this Colonel Sanders looks suspiciously like Adam Savage?)
No, the festivities were not limited to cars. Art Car Parade doesn't discriminate.
And, of course, this.
Get it?! See all the cars here.

Real Estate Casualty
Our beloved Dream House Sunshine Fuzzy Bunny is on the market.
We've had a lot of interest in it so far and we are really hoping we will be able to find some new owners before we head west. Yet, this campaign has not been without casualties. I fear our lovely glass doorknob has fallen into darkness.
The glass bit broke right out of the metal bit. It could not possibly be due to all that work we had to do installing it in the first place...
Never fear. Eddy and Norman came to the rescue to install a new knob.
Now it's all better.
It's probably for the best, since this doorknob is far more informational than the last one.

If You Build It
My professional travels recently took us back to the Midwest. When you go to the Midwest, the thing to do is visit Dyersville, Iowa in order to see where Field of Dreams was filmed. (It's just what you do.)
You can run the bases while you are there!
(Provided you do not hold the owners responsible for any base running injuries you might incur.)
You can also sit on the bleachers.
Just don't choke on a hot dog and then fall off backwards.
I swear Eddy went on this trip too, but apparently I was the one who was most excited about this.

Extreme Danger on the PCH
If you didn't guess from the last post (and really, you would have to be kind of a nerd to guess right) we were in California recently. While there, we had a gorgeous trip up the PCH! The wildlife along the way was amazing.
We stopped off at a lighthouse.
And at a weird "pub" for lunch.
Eddy also insisted that we take a detour to his old stomping grounds.
Don't worry. We immediately headed back to the beach after that.
But if you decide to travel up the PCH, just remember:
Extreme danger!

Making a Mockery of Art
We've been traveling a bit lately and it turns out that one of our favorite things to do is to make fun of sculpture.
10 points to anyone who can guess where we are in this photos.
This apparently is in contrast to our lack of desire to mock mosaics.
Go figure.

Shushing
I've had a couple of exciting career moments I wanted to share. First, I passed my third year review! (Whew!) So relieved and excited. Here is my totally awesome binder (which I photographed from several different angles because I wasn't sure if I would get it back and because I am a *complete* nerd).
Also, I was selected for a Librarian Achievement award at our library! I was so honored because lots of amazing librarians here at UH have earned this award.
Probably most importantly, though, is the fact that there is a photo booth at the staff awards ceremony every year. I would therefore like to share the world's best photo of me and my friend Valerie (who is also a librarian... You can tell because she is shushing you) ever taken.
Never going to top that photo. Never.

The Ghost of Easters Past
I realize that Easter is about a million years ago at this point, but you'll just have to indulge me because we dyed Easter eggs and I need you to admire them.
We also wore Easter outfits (which is a really important part of Easter).
Finally, we cooked this crazy delicious Polish mushroom soup (which apparently is a Christmas thing, but let's all just pretend like we don't know that).
We didn't take any pictures of the soup because instead we noms'd it.
