Second Birthday Surprise

Eddy got the shaft this year as far as birthdays go.  During his birthday, the house was being painted.  We went to his favorite Portland restaurant, but we just didn't get to do too many of the special things we normally do.  Namely, make cakes.

So one weekend we headed out to the beach.

We got all the way out there and I waited until Eddy was good and distracted and I snuck into the kitchen and iced this German chocolate cake I secretly made the day before and lit all the candles. He was surprised!

Probably he was surprised because it wasn't anywhere near his birthday at all. I'm so sneaky. Also I made him this birthday quilt because I realized in all the years we've been together I've never made a single quilt just for Eddy. Isn't that sad?! I remedied it with crocodiles.

Just look at those cute crocodiles!  On a side note, do you know how hard it is to lie to your husband for a solid week about what you did while he was at work?!  I told him I was sick, I faked that I was working on "computer stuff," I artfully changed the subject.  That was actually the hardest part of making this crocodile quilt.

We also had our usual beach fun (otherwise known as cheese tourism).

Also we did some super Eddy-friendly things. Like visiting lighthouses.

Eddy loves lighthouses. Look how wee this one was.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

And we drove out to a new beach!

But as always, it was Norman who had the most fun at the beach. He got Eddy to throw things for him.

He refused to let Eddy throw things for him.

He basically just ran around all weekend like a majestic dork.

It basically just resulted in a whole lot of this type of thing.

Happy surprise second birthday to my Eddy.

Merry Much-Belated Christmas to All!

Eddy's mom, Carol, got a new camera this year for Christmas.

37

That means there was more than the usual amount of photo taking on our Christmas trip to Chicago this year. Here are just a few shots from the festivities, some taken by Carol, some taken by Gene.

That's got to be one of my all-time favorite pictures of Ceci.

Did I mention there was a new camera around?

Merry belated Xmas to all! I'll get around to blogging the rest of our Chicago trip soon, but there is much catching up to do on Blog Sunshine Fuzzy Bunny in 2016!

Easter Traditions

One of our favorite Easter traditions is dying easter eggs (because, you know, we're adults and stuff.)

Easter 2015

We came up with some pretty good ones this year thanks to the fact that Eddy gave me a big box of Crayola in my Christmas stocking this past year. Good like the "Starship Egg-derprise" by Eddy.

Easter 2015

Here's my very bad tribute to "Our Hero: J.B. Fletcher."

Easter 2015

Eddy made this international oeuf.

Easter 2015

This is my cheeseburger egg. (I'll spare you my meta egg about eggs.)

Easter 2015

This is some spiral-eyed carrot that Eddy always draws.

Easter 2015

And here's my portrait of Eddy,

complete with a portrait of me on the back!

Easter 2015

Another of our favorite Easter traditions is to do a whole big Polish meal from scratch. I made up a big batch of pierogi.

And I made a karpatka. We were both pretty excited about the puff pastry dough.

Easter 2015

We even peeked in the oven while it was cooling.

Here's the super tall karpatka once I filled it with custard.

Easter 2015

We also made golabki,

and borowiki (mushroom) soup.

Easter 2015

We also had a yummy vegetable salad complete with deconstructed Easter eggs.

Easter 2015

The new tradition we started was making bunny ears (it's only right for everyone on Team Sunshine Fuzzy Bunny to have bunny ears just one day a year). Rupert clearly hated it.

Easter 2015

Norman was resigned to it.

Easter 2015

Then there was Molly...
