Bike Around the Bay
I wasn't able to embed the video here, so all I can do is link, but check out this sweet video about our upcoming bike ride. You should have seen the panic on my face when the guys talks about riding hills in Houston. What have we gotten ourselves into?!

On the Homefront
The very moment Eddy left for Japan, the rain came.
The rain was much needed and brought out a whole new array of critters.

Pre-Japan
Eddy left for Japan about 24 hours ago. Thanks to the magic of technology we can already get a glimpse of what he has been up to.
Let it be known that when I got to Japan, I plan to do plenty of this:
You just wait.

Hola, Senor Cellular!
One of our favorite things about our new house is our new mascot. Our old mascot--by our old apartment--was the Spec's bunny, a well-known Houston icon.
Now, instead of the Spec's bunny, we live just down the street from Senor Cellular.
Perhaps the only thing better than living down the street from a mustachioed anthropomorphic cell phone is that every time we drive past Eddy yells, "Hola, Senor Cellular!"

Golden
Thanks to Dana, Queen of the Yuppies, we are training for the Bike Around the Bay. It's another 150 mile ride, but this time around the Galveston bay. Eddy has been pestering me to do some cross-training, so we finally bought this beauty.
That's right. It's a circa 1970s Montgomery Ward Hawthorne. Oh, and by the way... it's gold. It also has this.
We're not too many weeks away from the ride now, so this gem will come in handy.

Putting the Labor in Labor Day Weekend
Because the weather has been so darned nice, we decided to tackle some yard work.
I did a few odds and ends while Eddy tackled the jungle that was the eastern side of our house. Before:

Yay, Labor Day!

For the First Time Since I Can't Remember When
It was a little cooler outside. I might even say it was pleasant. We parked ourselves on the front porch first thing in the morning to enjoy the breeze and the downright livable temperature.
We even opened the windows for essentially the first time since we have owned this house. As a result, the neighbor dogs--Kit and Tess--discovered our cats--Rupert and Ada.
Commence taunting and barking.
